Campbell County School District Aquatic Center Alternative Foundations

Gillette, WY

Campbell County School District was investigating the possibility of building a new aquatic center. The original geotechnical report recommended reinforced concrete drilled piers to support the building walls, floors, and pool. Because of the prohibitive cost of drilled piers, the school district was seeking other alternatives. Inberg-Miller Engineers performed a subsurface investigation and reviewed the conditions with various geotechnical contractors. IME found that grouted columns below the structure in concert with wick drains would provide a stable foundation and be more cost-effective than drilled piers.
